Terms of use

Terms of use for MetriBeacon Last updated: 30 September 2026

1. Provider and scope

These terms apply to new personal and business accounts and the functions used through them. Anyone acting for a company must be authorized to represent it. Any legally required consent for persons with limited legal capacity remains necessary.

2. Account and conclusion of the agreement

Before registration, the user accepts the terms of use and acknowledges the privacy notice. For human registration, the agreement is concluded when the email address is successfully confirmed by link or code. For an operator invitation, it is concluded through explicit acceptance and activation of the invited account; for machine accounts, through successful signed registration by the authorized user. An automated client acts for that user. Recovery or sign-in to an existing account is not a new registration. Information provided must be accurate. An account may be declined for objective reasons, in particular abuse or capacity limits.

3. Free service

The offered use is free of charge. MetriBeacon accepts measurements, states, events and heartbeats and provides, in particular, workspaces, monitors, history, analysis, alerts and exports. Data is submitted through the Agent or HTTPS API; public HTTP targets, jobs and workflows can be monitored using enabled functions. Machine accounts and explicitly authorized OAuth/MCP access enable automated use. The functions actually enabled and the current documentation at https://metribeacon.com/documentation determine the available service. Registration does not create a paid membership; any future paid offerings require a separate agreement.

4. Quotas and retention

The quotas, technical intake limits and retention periods displayed for the account apply. Current personal limits are available under “Data usage”. Exceeding limits may restrict further account creation, configuration, checks, notifications or data intake. Quotas must not be circumvented using multiple accounts, changing network addresses or other methods. Original measurements, complete text messages and detailed run events are generally available for at most seven days; minute aggregates for 30 days, quarter-hour aggregates for 365 days and hourly aggregates for 1,095 days. Other data types have their own retention periods described in the privacy notice. Automatic retention is not permanent backup. Users must export data they need in time using the available export functions.

5. Secure and authorized use

Users protect their email access, sessions, API and management credentials and recovery keys against unauthorized access. Machine credentials and keys must be used only with the permissions required for their purpose. Only systems or targets owned by the user, or targets the user is authorized to check, may be monitored. Submitted content must be lawful; third-party rights and data protection requirements must be respected. Credentials and unnecessary personal information must not be included in measurements, labels or text messages. Unlawful content, malware, attacks, unauthorized access attempts, disruptive load and circumvention of safeguards are prohibited. If abuse is suspected, affected keys must be revoked and the provider informed.

6. Data and rights

Users retain their rights to submitted content. They authorize the provider only to process it as necessary for receiving, storing, analyzing, displaying, exporting and sending selected notifications. This does not authorize advertising, sale of measurement data or use for unrelated purposes. Personal data relating to others may be processed only on an appropriate legal basis. Where MetriBeacon is used as a processor, the necessary data processing agreement must be concluded separately before such use. Acceptance of these terms does not replace that agreement. Processing of account and operational data is explained at https://metribeacon.com/privacy; acknowledgment of that notice is not blanket consent to processing personal data.

7. Availability, alerts and operational limits

No specific availability percentage or maximum response time is promised for the free service. Maintenance, technical faults, network problems, missing data and quotas may impair functionality. Alerts depend in particular on incoming data, user-selected rules and external email or Telegram services; uninterrupted or timely delivery is not promised. Users regularly check configuration and delivery channels. MetriBeacon is not an emergency call system and should not be the sole safeguard for safety-critical or life-critical operations. This description does not exclude statutory rights concerning performance or defects.

8. Suspension and abuse

Where there are concrete indications of unauthorized use, significant security risks, unlawful content or significant violations, the provider may temporarily suspend the necessary access, keys or functions. Measures must be proportionate to the circumstances. Where possible and legally permitted, affected users are informed of the reason and how to resolve the matter. For non-urgent, remediable violations, an opportunity to remedy them should be given first. Extraordinary termination for good cause and statutory rights remain available.

9. Duration, termination and deletion

The agreement continues indefinitely. Users may terminate it at any time without a termination fee by confirming account deletion in their account or submitting an appropriate notice to the provider. A machine account may be deleted using the available management functions. For a planned ordinary termination or discontinuation of the service, the provider gives reasonable advance notice and enables export of data still available. Regular retention periods continue to apply. Account deletion immediately blocks access; subsequent cleanup of the database and archive runs asynchronously and may take longer during a technical fault. The procedure is described in the privacy notice.

10. Liability and consumer rights

Liability is governed by statutory provisions. These terms contain no blanket exclusion of liability, in particular for intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health. Mandatory consumer rights, including any applicable rights concerning digital services or statutory withdrawal rights, remain unaffected. The fact that the service is free does not by itself remove such rights.

11. Changes

New versions are published with their date. The versions accepted during registration remain internally archived without alteration. Earlier versions are no longer served publicly. Publication or continued use alone does not replace any required agreement to changes in contractual terms. Changes to existing contracts require a legal basis or an expressly required agreement. A paid service is not introduced through silence or an existing free account.

12. Contact and applicable law

Notices and questions may be sent in text form to https://metribeacon.com/contact. German law applies; mandatory protections under the law that would apply to consumers without this choice of law remain unaffected. No exclusive jurisdiction is agreed for consumers.
