Alarms for missing data and device heartbeats
Be notified when readings or device heartbeats stop arriving.
On this page
What you need
A monitor or series with a known reporting interval.
How to do it
- Choose No reading for a series or No device heartbeat for the monitor.
- Set a waiting period longer than the usual reporting interval plus a reasonable delivery delay.
- Choose a destination and save. Check the incident after a controlled pause in reporting and recovery after reporting resumes.
Good to know
The rule is checked even when no data arrives. Its waiting period starts no earlier than rule creation. New readings or heartbeats can clear the incident, but the rule cannot tell you the cause of missing contact.
If something goes wrong
A heartbeat can continue while a component's readings fail. Choose the rule for the observation you actually need.
