Quotas and fair use
Plan your monitoring within the shared limits of your account.

What you need
Open Usage to see the limits that currently apply to your account.
How to do it
- Check available monitor and measurement series slots and the expected daily consumption before adding resources.
- Choose reporting intervals that fit your data allowance. All workspaces and keys share the same account budget.
- If a request is temporarily limited, wait for the time given by Retry-After and retry the same prepared data.
Good to know
Three core allowances apply: monitors, measurement series and measurements plus events per UTC day. The free-monitoring page shows current defaults; Usage shows your personal allowances. Every numeric reading, state value and event message counts once.
Automatically created accounts have smaller allowances until their email address is verified. Verification keeps existing usage. The limits page explains standard allowances; Usage shows your personal values.
Extra keys do not increase allowances. Archiving or deleting resources does not refund data already sent. Identical readings are not counted twice, but repeated requests still use request and byte allowances.
If something goes wrong
Increase the reporting interval if usage grows too quickly. A global_capacity error means the shared service is busy; wait before retrying.

- Data retention
