Local MQTT bridge
Forward selected topics from your own MQTT broker to numerical series over HTTPS.
On this page
What you need
An existing MQTT broker, Python, the bridge example, numerical series and protected credential files.
How to do it
- Create a Sensor or Custom monitor and Gauge or Counter series for your topics.
- Map exact topic names to series IDs in the bridge configuration. Set a stable client_id and private key and queue paths. Remote brokers need a trusted TLS CA.
- Install the supplied Python requirements in a virtual environment and start bridge.py --config. Publish a test value with QoS 1 and without Retain.
Good to know
MetriBeacon does not provide an MQTT broker. The example supports up to 50 exact topic mappings and 10,000 pending points. Wildcards # and + are not supported. Retained, invalid or too frequent messages are dropped.
A full queue pauses reception until space is available. Late readings older than 24 hours cannot be submitted.

Check broker permissions, TLS, exact topic names and timestamps. Keep queue.sqlite and credential files private.
