n8n metrics and error workflows
Use the n8n examples to send readings and report workflow errors.
On this page
What you need
n8n, a MetriBeacon monitor and a device key stored as an n8n credential.
How to do it
- Import the metric workflow and assign an Authorization Header Auth credential to its HTTP node.
- Replace the series ID and example value in Prepare metric. Run it and check the HTTP result and monitor.
- For error reports, activate the separate error workflow and select it as Error Workflow for the workflow you want to observe.
Good to know
Imported inactive workflows do not run automatically. To retry the same reading, repeat only the HTTP node with its prepared output; running the preparation node again creates new IDs.
Send short error descriptions, not prompts or full customer logs.
If something goes wrong
Check workflow activation and credential assignment. Test an actual Error Trigger; a manual execution can behave differently.
