Confirm sensitive actions by email

What you need

A signed-in account and access to its verified email address.

How to do it

1. Open the change you want, such as linking a sign-in provider or deleting your account. Check the displayed details.
2. Request the confirmation email and enter its six-digit code in the open dialog.
3. Confirm the action. If you change its details or cancel, request a new code for the intended change.

Good to know

An action code lasts five minutes and confirms only that particular change in your current session. It is not a sign-in code and cannot be reused for another action.

Never send the code to someone asking to help you. Check the requested action in the email before using it.

If something goes wrong

If the code expired or you tried it incorrectly too often, request a new one. Use the latest email and keep the original dialog open.
