POST Commit a device-bound batch of text or run events

/api/v1/ingest/events

Up to 1,000 events and 256 KiB before and after decompression; each event is at most 4 KiB and message at most 2 KiB UTF-8. Event IDs are account-wide idempotency keys. The optional type label controls aggregates; absent type is generic. Structured run data requires enabled run ingestion and reserves normalized type/run_id labels.

Parameters and headers

FieldLocationType and limitsRequiredMeaning
X-MetriBeacon-Device-IDHeaderstring; {"format":"uuid"}NoTarget device UUID. Required for shared keys, implicit for one selected device. Header and body targets must match.

Request body

FieldType and limitsRequiredMeaning
$EventBatchYes—
$.batch_idstring; {"format":"uuid"}YesClient-generated UUID identifying this submission. Reuse measurement IDs and the exact payload on retries.
$.device_idstring; {"format":"uuid"}NoTarget device UUID. Required for shared keys, implicit for one selected device. Header and body targets must match.
$.eventsarray<TextEvent>; {"maxItems":1000,"minItems":1}Yes—
$.events[]TextEventYes—
$.events[].idstring; {"format":"uuid"}YesUUID of this resource. Keep the returned identifier for subsequent operations.
$.events[].labelsobjectNoCollector events use at most ten labels: source, type, series_id, component_id, parameter_key, change_kind, old_status, new_status, and optional JSON-encoded old_value / new_value for Boolean or Enum states. change_kind is collection_status, state_value or counter_reset. Missing values were not transmitted; collection recovery does not confirm service health. Existing event size limits apply.

Retries and asynchronous work

Keep the documented IDs for retries. After an unclear response, do not replace them with new IDs, which could create another resource or reading.

Request examples

Replace demo IDs, timestamps and placeholders with your own values. For a retry, keep the same IDs, time and content. These examples do not run requests on this page.

Keep login links, codes, cookies and keys private. Do not print them in logs or share them in support requests.

  • HTTP API, OAuth and MCP

Find the user API endpoints, their permissions, fields, examples and response formats.

  • POST Report contact from the device key without a body

Report contact from the device key without a body.

  • POST Commit a numeric batch atomically

Store a numerical batch. Success confirms stored data; identical point IDs and content count as duplicates. Limits: 1,000 items and 256 KiB before and after decompression. identity and gzip are supported; decoded bytes count toward usage. Readings may be up to 24 hours old or two minutes ahead. Distinct readings of one series must be at least one second apart, including existing readings.

  • POST Register a series for the device key idempotently

Name and labels identify the series on the key’s device. Different labels create another series and consume allowance. Existing type/unit conflicts return 409; foreign-device access is not possible.
