Accounts, workspaces and monitors
Understand how workspaces, monitors and measurement series fit together.

What you need
No technical setup is needed to understand these terms.
How to do it
- Use a workspace for a project or environment, such as Home or Production.
- Add one monitor for each data source. Use groups to organise related monitors; a monitor can belong to several groups.
- Give each measurement its own series, such as CPU usage, temperature or operating state.
Good to know
Your account contains workspaces. A workspace contains monitors, and a monitor contains series. Groups are labels for organising monitors, not an extra ownership level.
All your workspaces share your account's limits. Where workspace sharing is available, access also depends on your membership role. The API name device means monitor.
If something goes wrong
If a monitor is missing, check the selected workspace and group filter. You need access to a resource before its ID can be used in an integration.
