CLI setup, templates and monitors
Create and update monitors from the command line using a preview first.
On this page
What you need
A configured CLI identity with config:read for reading and config:write for changes.
How to do it
- List templates and monitors. Prepare a request file with your workspace ID and the selected template version.
- Run template validate and template plan. Review the proposed resources before template apply.
- Before editing, read monitor show and use its revision with monitor update. Keep your request ID if retrying the same change.
Good to know
Use a stable external ID for repeatable setup. Repeating identical setup does not create a second monitor. Only the workspace owner may permanently delete a monitor with monitor delete --id … --yes; deletion also removes its stored data.

A revision conflict means settings changed since you read them. Reload, review and prepare the intended change again.
